PERMANENT

By: Alyssa Nicholson

Why do words save writers?

They give them hope, and a purpose.

Fire in their veins.

Skin flushing hot,

The things they can’t say, now permanent on paper

Why do word hurt writers?

They bring them pain, and unease.

Head in their hands,

Heart stopping,

The words that certain people can’t bear to hear,

The things they should never say, now permanent on paper
