Take Me Someplace

Take Me Somplace

By: Kayla McCabe

Take me someplace

where a closet

only means a wooden box with clothing,

Where queer young girls don't have to hide

behind poetry sprinkled with inconsistent pronouns-

Was it a she or a he?

Take me someplace

where a closet

only holds clothes

and not my dirty secrets.

Where girls can love

one another without

hate frosted on cakes

of ignorance and

disgust.

Take me someplace

without closets

of negativity and

loads of dirty laundry.

Where love isnt

sugar coated in lies

but dipped in a thick

layer of acceptance.

Take me someplace

where bitterness

doesn't overpower

sweetness.

Take me someplace without closets.

Take me someplace.
